First Brattleborough and first Holbrook edition, published by subscription; thick 4to, pp. 930, [2], 56 (Brown's Concordance ... revised and corrected, with sepatate title page also dated 1816); text in double column; 2 inserted engraved title pages (O.T. and N.T.), frontispiece, 17 engraved or woodcut plates, 5 engraved maps (2 folding, 1 with repair at fold; several hand-colored), 2 pro-forma leaves of "Family Record;" original full paneled sheep, red and black morocco labels on gilt-decorated spine; Vermont Historical Socity duplicate, with bookplate and rubberstamp marked withdrawn; the front joint reglued, without the rear free endpaper, moderte dampstaining in the corners of the prelims, a number of minor blemishes and stains throughout, but in all a good, sound copy, collated and complete. With the ownership signature of C[hester] W[illiam] Houghton, 1816, and with a series of Houghton family names recorded in the Family Register, including C. W.'s marriage to Hetty Wyman, C. W., Jr., George Washington Houghton, Mary Jane Houghton, Fanny Wyman Houghton, Sophia Houghton, and Edward Lamb Houghton. Hills, English Bible in America, 293.
