NY: Harper & Brothers, 1876. First Edition . Hardcover. First US edition, near fine in original brown cloth. Small owners stamp on front endpaper, same owner's signature on second front endpaper. Just minor handling wear to the beveled boards. Gilt floral bands on front board, with a gilt bust of Homer centered between them. Same design on spine, with author and title in gilt. A fresh and crisp copy of this analysis of Homer and his poetry by the four-time Prime Minister of England. Includes an index; 284 pages.
