About This Item

From the author's Preface:
"The present volume is for the most part a record of bodily action, written partly to preserve to myself the memory of strong and joyous hours, and partly for the pleasure of those who find exhilaration in descriptions associated with mountain life."
Condition:
A 1/2" area at the top-left corner of the back cover has flaked off; the corner tips of the other 3 corners are worn; light wear to the left and right edges at the top of the spine; there is a horizontal tear line near the center of the spine (see photo). Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are in very good condition - clean with no writing or foxing; thin, light stain at the top edge of all pages; a few random, light ink smudges found. Ex-library book with a code at the base of the spine, ink stamps on the end papers and both sides of the title page; some paper remainder on the rear pastedown from the card sleeve(?) being removed; embossed stamp on title page; date stamp in ink on the back of the title page. Bright gilt lettering on the spine.
