About This Item

London: Methuen, 1928. Deluxe Limited Numbered Edition. Cloth & Vellum. Near Fine/Very Good. Shepherd, E.H.. A quite scarce Limited Numbered First Edition signed by the author A.A. Milne and illustrator Ernest Shepherd and numbered 302 of only 350 signed limited edition copies. Original cloth-backed boards bound in blue cloth with cream-colored boards, with paper label with black type on front cover. Volume has minor foxing and soiling to boards, a bit of dusting to fore-edge of the rough-cut pages which are moderately darkened with age. The dustjacket is well worn, browned and soiled with chips at spine ends and edges but it has protected the book quite well and the black titling on the front panel is quite clear, although the titling on the spine is rubbed. This signed limited edition is quite scarce when signed by Milne.

Synopsis

The House at Pooh Corner (1928) is the second volume of stories about Winnie-the-Pooh, written by A. A. Milne and illustrated by E. H. Shepard. It is notable for the introduction of the character Tigger, who went on to become a prominent figure in the Disney Winnie the Pooh franchise. The title comes from a story in which Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet build a house for Eeyore. In another story the game of Poohsticks is invented.
