Randolph Schwabe. 1st Printing 1 Copyright date is 1936, 1st illustrated edition green cloth over boards with gold lettering and design on the front and the spine, no tears or bent pages, previous owners name on the inside fly leaf, NO JACKET, light soiling to the page edges sun fading to the spine and to the back about 1 1/4 inch along the groove, shelf wear to the edges and to the head and toe of the spine is moderate, some light wear spots back top left corner, and two very small spot top front edge, light bump toe of the spine, bright, clean text with a tight binding a solid collectible book. Size: 8vo - over 7" - 9" tall

Synopsis

Of Human Bondage is a novel by W. Somerset Maugham. It is generally agreed to be his masterpiece and to be strongly autobiographical in nature, although Maugham stated, "This is a novel, not an autobiography, though much in it is autobiographical, more is pure invention. " Maugham, who had originally planned to call his novel Beauty from Ashes, finally settled on a title taken from Spinoza's Ethics
