Pp xxi, 317 with a b/w photo frontispiece plate and many illustrations in b/w & line, plus 8 maps [seven folding and one, printed in red, to rear endpapers]. Internally almost fine. Original red cloth-covered boards/gilt titles, lightly bruised to both front free corners. Original front panel of the colour-illustrated dust-wrapper preserved and laid down. Withdrawn and sold from University of Keele with its unobtrusive, neat blind-stamp impression to the bottom blank margin of the title leaf.. Second Edition. Cloth. Very Good/Later loose protective Jacket. Illus. by Illustrated by Gray Ellis, Margaret Marshall & Colette Murnaghan. 8vo.
