Hardcover. 16mo. 16cm, The First Edition, 336p., without the series title, in quarter tan russian, black raised bands, gilt rule borders in the panels, gilt panel devices and titles, french marbled boards and endpapers, attractive heraldic bookplate, some slight wear on the board edges else very good to fine copy (ILC). ~Loeber R-32. Sadleir 3662. Sabin 69051, indicates London, 1855. ~ Stories of hunting in the Americas by Irish adventure author, hunter and naturalist, Mayne Read (1818-1883). Animals hunted and studied include bears, buffalo, cougar passenger pigeons, raccoons, muskrat, wild hogs, vicuna, squirrel, deer, moose, and wolves. "Hunters' Feast" first appeared in serial form in 1854.
