Description:
Paris: Imprimerie S. A. Courbet, 1950. Poster featuring the famous 'Normandie' liner. This was produced (circa 1950) in response to the advancing popularity of airlines for transcontinental travel. The image of the ship emphasizes stability, safety, comfort, style and luxury. A beautiful ocean liner as indicated by the enormous proportions of the ship. Featuring the French national colours, and the liner's huge, imposing bow dominates this striking image. 1000 x 610 mm (39¼ x 24 inches). The poster is signed in the plate on the lower right. Paul Colin (1892 - 1985) was one of France's greatest poster artists. Famous for his 1925 poster for the Revue Nègre, which helped launch the career of Josephine Baker (who also became his mistress). - very good
London: S. W. Fores, 1798. Very good. Cruikshank, Isaac. 33.5 x 46 cm. Hand colored etching. Isaac after George Moutard Woodward. Eight scenes arranged in two rows. An elderly man riding Pegasus pursues Fame, who beckons to him; he despairs of overtaking her, even "if my Pegasus was as fleet as the wind". Two cronies concur in "hunting the bottle". An old military officer pursues a pretty young woman. Two bailiff's men with bludgeons pursue a debtor. A solitary man has been fruitlessly "hunting after money the whole day". A young and handsome fortune-hunter kneels to an elderly harridan. A hunter after company invites himself to crack a bottle with another man. A fat parson, eyes closed, at a table with punch-bowl, glasses, &c, the second chair being empty, says: "My worthy friend the Vicar and myself have just killed old care and I am very happy Doctor, to welcome you in at the death". [ see BMSat 8541]. Three tiny nicks at left margin. Colors bright and fresh.

Finland: Compagnie Lyonnaise de Cinéma/Metheus Film/Rapid Film, 1966. 1st Edition . No Binding. Near Fine. Cinema-used Finnish one-sheet for the movie AGENT 505: DEATH TRAP IN BEIRUT. Agent 505, played by Frederick Stafford, was a German/Italian/French co-production aiming to capitalize on the success of the 60's spy-genre and in particular the James Bond franchise. He was the Common Market's 007. The film was first screened in Finnish cinemas in 1966 with no subsequent theatrical runs. This particular poster is a standard size 60cm x 40cm approx. It is fabulous and I was going to describe it as Mint Unused but then at the last second I noticed a pinhole and small tear at the centre top between the "V" and "E" in "Genevieve. Appears as though a tack was used to fix the poster and then it was just pulled through at dismounting. It really is difficult to spot. Otherwise, apart from very minor handling crease the poster is in beautiful condition with a…

Description:
Finland: United Artists, 1953. 1st Edition . No Binding. Fine. A fabulous-condition Finnish A2 cinema poster for the 1953 movie, VICE SQUAD starring Edward G. Robinson & Paulette Godard. The movie is also known as The Girl from Room 17 and it is this less "salacious" title which is referred to in the poster. The actual Finnish title translates as "Flying Squad". The film was first screened in cinemas in Finland in 1953 with no subsequent theatrical screenings. This poster is not a modern reproduction and nor is it Video/DVD-related. Standard size 23.5" x slightly under 16" approx. It is in fantastic condition - unfolded and with no chips or tears to the edges - one or two small handling creases. At the top - in the brim of the hat - there is a puncture or split to the paper although there is not actual loss. There are no pinholes - it may be an unused poster. Really Fine condition - would be Mint if not for the puncture, difficult though it may be to grade a 70…

Four-color offset lithograph on paper. [28⅛ x 23¼ in. (71.4 x 59.2 cm)], one of a printing of 4,000. From a series of four works titled "Column" the others were named Column no. 2 (Picasso 90), Column no. 3 (Chile-F), and Column no. 4 (IB-affair). The title refers to the work's likeness to newspaper columns: full of facts, but a colorfully cartooned map of textual facts. The artist's signature is reproduced in the lower right. Discoloration to white edges, else very good. Still very pleasant to the eye. All posters are presently stored between acid free boards, flat, under weight. They will be shipped rolled, in tubes.

Los Angeles: Ruhl Samples, 1961. Flyer. 5.5 x 8.5 inches. Fine.. A fine copy of this 1961 flyer advertising a "Symposium on Freedom" presented by Ruhl Samples on June 24, 1961 at Hollywood High School, and featuring the eminent Austrian economist, Dr. Ludwig von Mises, who planned to speak on "Planned Chaos," and all for the incredible general admission price of one dollar. Mises (1881-1973) fled Europe in 1940 as a result of the German advance, emigrating to the United States where his scholarship was supported by the Rockefeller Foundation and William Volker Fund. Mises would become a visiting professor at New York University from 1945 until his retirement in 1969, and was among the founding members of the Mont Pelerin Society. Mises was a leading scholar within the Austrian School of economics and a leading light for generations of libertarian scholars. The flyer notes that future speakers would include James Burnham (conservative scholar and former Trotskyist), Dan Smoot (former FBI agent and…
