Quarterbound leather with speckled paper-covered boards. [7], iv-xiv, 405, [5] pp. One folding leaf at rear containing two engraved geometric figures. Gilt-stamped leather lettering piece in one compartment, manuscript paper label in another, and gilt flower designs stamped in the remaining three. Text in French and ancient Greek. Analysis of writings of Timaeus of Locri, as included in Plato's works, and other philosophical discussion, including further notes on his bestselling “La Philosophie du Bon Sens", by the French writer who was a free thinker and contemporary of Voltaire. His unorthodox views led him to the court of Frederick the Great, where he spent much of his adult life. ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
