A run of The IBIS journals for the years 1946 - 2003: being the corresponding volumes 88 - 146 part 1, with the additional supplement issues for volumes 134 & 137. Missing journals 91, 119-134 , 144 parts 3 & 4 & vol. 145 pt.1 . Volumes 88 - 100 are bound in green buckram with some fading to the spine - size 8 vo. Volumes 110 - 118 are also bound in green buckram though size 4to and are well preserved. Each volume contains the four journals published in that year. From volume 118 onwards, (including 116) the journals are unbound in their original card covers, size 4to large. B/w illustrative plates are found in all volumes, with colour plates from volume 138 onwards. Volume 103b has a fold out map. Slight/light bumps to volumes 88, 92, 93, 97, 113, 115, 118 and journals 138, No, 1 + 3, 138, No 4, 139, No 3, 141, No 1 + 2 & 143, No 4. Slight soiling & wear to the older books from vol. 88 - 94 and there is a small area of circular loss to the spine strip of volume 95. Vol. 101 and 112 has a few ink spots to the spine. There is a split to the tail of the spine of volume 136, No 4 and volume 140 No 1 has two small tears at the head of the front card cover. Slight creasing to the page corner tips of volume 139, No 2 and creasing to the head of the front card cover of volume 137, No3. Volume 138, part 3 has loss to the front card cover. Volume 143, part I has light fading to the spine and head of the front card cover. The set is clean and tight, apart from the aforementioned faults. A very good collection of this journal.

Great Britain: Blackwell Scientific Publications, 1971. Hardback. First Edition. The Status of Birds in Britain and Ireland. Previous owners name written very neatly to inside cover. The last authoratitive statement of the distribution and status of all British birds was published by the British Ornithologists' Union in 1952. Since then many changes have occurred; new species have been added to the list, the ranges of others have changed, and much additional knowledge has been gained. This volume - the work of a special committee set up by the B.O.U. - deals with all the species known to occur in the British Isles, giving the latest available information on their status and movements. It will undoubtedly stand as the authority on this subject for the next two or three decades. The text is enlivened by a drawing of one member of each bird family by the well-known bird artist Robert Gillmor. Illustrations. 333 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social… Read More
