Well bound and clean pages, with mild tanning to text block edges. Heavy foxing to text block edge, pastedowns and endpapers. Boards have moderate shelf wear, with rubbing and marking. Light bumping to corners and moderate crushing to spine ends. Book has noticeable forward lean. Boards are slightly bowed.

Hbk, large thick 4to, 945pp, embossed black pebble-cloth boards with bright gilt spine titles and ornament, illustr in color and b+w, the hinges must have loosened at some point and were stabilized, p. 931 (only) has become detached but is present, prev ownerÕs name neatly on front endpaper, slight spotting here and there to long foredge, otherwise a very good, clean, bright and solid copy with many years of useful life left in it

Minor marks to the spine and boards, wear to extremities. Ink name to prelim. Binding slightly shaken, with a split to rear hinge, but all together and internally clean. This re-issue of the 1911 edition has 'Cost of Recipe' appendix dated 1935. Illustrated with 48 lovely coloured plates of various dishes, with a further 250 in-text b&w illustrations. Weirdly it has copies of the last two pages bound in between page vi and vii, but it also already has these in their proper place.
