This work represents modern and on-going research into the identification of Victorian electroplated wares and their manufacturers.
The fact that such research is long overdue is well known in this market, where dealer and collector alike have had to work in the dark, with very little reference material to draw upon.
In this first edition you will find more than 700 companies represented, together with more than 270 identification marks used by the Sheffield makers to identify their work throughout the period 1843-1943.
It would be foolish to claim that this book was the definitive guide to the makers of Victorian electroplated wares.Such a book is yet to be written, but this book is certainly a step in the right direction. The book has been prepared to assist the bargain hunter, the serious collector and the dealer alike. Its focus is on identification, through a knowledge of style and/or the marks to be found on the work of the period. Please contact rpaxtonden@blueyonder.co.uk ,for correct shipping/P+p quotes - particularly ALL overseas buyers - BEFORE ordering through the order page! ** N.B. ALL buyers please note, stocks' actual shipping/P+p costs are adjusted and any difference is refunded, after order's receipt and before the order's despatch, especially if the item(s) are offered either P+p included/FREE.
** N.B. US/Canada customers please be aware: Standard AIRMAIL postage from UK to these destinations can now cost more than the price of the book! If speed is not of the essence, then Economy rate is recommended - at approx. anything from a 1/3rd to 1/2 of the standard AIR quote/rate - sometimes arriving sooner than the 42 days - but not always.
