Folio-sized, full-page color maps of every country and U.S. state to that point in our history., with text details from one sentence in length to full paragraphs on each country and "their geographical position." U.S. states and territories covered to a greater extent, with black-and-white illustrations. Title page says 1892, copyright page says 1891, but this edition, this copy, also covers the World's Columbia Exposition held in Chicago from May to October 1893, which garners 19 pages of narrative and black-and-white photographs of each building, plus a black-and-white platte layout. Sturdy folio copy with burgundy cloth covers, black leather spine and tips. Gilt illustrated lettering to front. Age-expected wear to edges, but still-attractive, intact volume. Decorated endpapers, with full-page black-and-white illustrated collage of "Incidents in the Life of Christopher Columbus" at frontis. Library tape neatly affixed to crease at full title page. Some chipping and small closed tears to opening endpapers and frontis.
