About This Item
Sphere Books: London, 1974. First edition thus (& 1st printing). Paperback original. SF stories, first published by Victor Gollancz in hardcover a year earlier. ''Published by Sphere Books 1974'' on copyright page. Eddie Jones cover art. The Gollancz hardcover collected twelve stories (including the title story which wom the Hugo Award for best short story in 1972), this Shere paperback is abridged, dropping five stories. On the copyright page it states:''The original edition of this book contained twelve stories. This Sphere edition contains eleven''. But as noted, this Sphere edition contains only seven stories. All very odd. This Niven title never published in the USA. Fine (unread) copy.
