(without the separate title to Part II between col. 752 and 753). Together 4 vols., uniformly bound by Lindskogs in polished brown half calf, marbled sides, red and olive morocco labels (vol. 1 label chipped with loss of 1.5 x 3 cm), top edges gilt, original wrappers of all the parts bound in. Complete set, well bound by Lindskogs of Goteborg, of Collijn's monumental Swedish bibliography 1478-1699, exhaustively describing 770 books printed between 1478 and 1599, and ca. 6,000 seventeenth century books. Of the earliest books printed in Sweden, this set is justly considered to be its NATIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHY. - Isak Collijn (1875-1949) was no doubt the greatest of all Scandinavian bibliographers. An indefatigable, polyglot scholar of vast erudition, he is internationally best-known as an incunabulist whose contribution to the bibliography of fifteenth century books was invaluable. He was director of the Royal Library, Stockholm - with the title of "Riksbibliotekarien." i.e. Imperial Librarian - from 1916 to his retirement, in 1940, which allowed him to finish his Swedish bibliography. -- Loosely inserted: an obituary of Collijn by T. Kleberg from "Zentralblatt fur Bibliothekswesen," 1950.

¶ From the famed bibliographical library of B.H. Breslauer (sale of the Bibliotheca Bibliographica Breslaueriana, 2005, lot 1248).
