This Harry G. Theaker first edition book has 16 stunning colour illustrations. This very collectable book measures 6 x 8½ inches (approximately). This is a rare presentation copy with a blind stamp to the title page. The original blue buckram binding has a wonderful gilt illustration to the centre of the front board, with gilt lettering to the spine. The binding is in Very Good + condition with slight corner knocks, knocks to the top and bottom of the spine and light fading to the spine. This is a very clean and bright binding. There are 546 numbered pages with 16 full-page colour illustrations by Harry Theaker as per the list to the front of the book, and additional illustrations in black and white, with two pages of advertisements to the end of the book, all edges tinted blue to match the binding. The pages are in overall Very Good + condition with browning to the blank front free endpaper and rear endpaper, browning to the tissue guard between the frontispiece and title page. The Ingoldsby Legends first edition book illustrated by Harry Theaker is a very attractive and collectable book with incredibly attractive colour illustrations.

No date in book, but research places it c. 1950 (former owner's name & date of 1959 in front matter; NO other writing/underlining/highlighting). Hardcover book has deep green cloth-covered boards with colorful front paper pastedown & gilt lettering to spine. Condition is solidly Good: generally clean, with the occasional smudge. Pages creamy white with moderate tanning. Binding secure, but a bit shaken; both hinges intact.; not ex-lib. Flaws: heavy rubbing to extremities, all edges of front pastedown, corners.
