About This Item
New York: Simon & Schuster, 1966. First printing. 576 pp., square 8vo. Cover portrait by Duane Michals. Light tanning and soiling to edges, and one area of fading to cloth, otherwise about very good, in a dust-jacket lacking a four-inch-wide by two-inch-deep piece at the crown of the spine (the cause of the aforementioned fading).
A wide-ranging journal of the years 195664, in prose, poetry, dialogues, and drawings, by a multifaceted architect, sculptor, painter, poet, stage designer, and restless experimenter, who died in 1965, while this book was still in production. An advance review copy, with the publisher's slip, inscribed a month before the official publication date by Lillian Kiesler, the author's wife: "For dear Jon, whose friendship was a pleasure to Frederick and me."
