Pages remain bright and clean with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding remains firm. Minor pencil inscriptions to front free endpaper. Boards have moderate shelf wear with mild bumping and fraying to corners and crushing and fraying to spine ends. Crease to front board. Book has slight forward lean. Unclipped jacket has heavy edge wear with large tears, chipping and creasing. Some tanning and foxing to all surfaces, particularly to spine.

Selwyn & Blount Ltd., London : New York : Melbourne : Sydney, Cape Town, N.D. [1947]. Sm.double cr.16mo; pp.176; deep blue sheep-patterned rexine-covered boards lettered gilt on spine. Gilt very slightly dulled on spine; otherwise a virtually fine copy in minutely frayed dust-wrapper with two chips at lower edge barely affecting the pictorial design. The correct first printing, this being the last book listed on the inside front flap of the dust-wrapper under the heading ‘Stanley Paul’s New Fiction’. Hubin, p.302, listing only this title: another, ‘Death Joins the Dance’ is mentioned on the dust-wrapper as an earlier publication. Not issued in America. A well written and very readable detective story, with good dialogue: unusual in being a British ‘police procedural’.
