New Haven : Yale University Press , 1963 . First Edition . Very Good . Folio . A landmark in art education and a genuine work of art in its own right, enormously infuential and still in print in abridged and facsimile editions. This is the first edition published in an edition of 2000 copies. All folders and prints are present and in excellent condition, together with the two text volumes. The folders have been sewn into six card volumes with black backing which has done an admirable job of protecting them. If desired, this would be easily reversable. Mildly ex-library with stamps in the two text volumes and on the edges of each portfolio volume. There is evidence of pocket and label removal on the interior of the main slipcase. The interior contents including the folders, prints, text volumes and portfolio case are in very nice unworn condition, the outer slipcase is more worn but solid. A large and very heavy production.
