"This volume seeks to discover the distinctive character of each book of the New Testament. In the Introduction, the purposes and methods of New Testament study are discussed, and the approach and scope of this book is explained. The author assumes that the New Testament books will be read, so that the reader will come to know of their writers. The outlines of the books of the New Testament are intended to help the reader master their structure and content; for this reason, they usually appear before the statement of critical problems and the comments of scholars on them. Learning what others think about books of the Bible should never become a substitute for reading the text in its entirety...."
