Impensis Conradi Bunonis, typis Caspari Johannis Bismarci, 1686. Small 4to., (8 4/8 x 6 6/8 inches). Letterpress title-page printed in red and black. Additional engraved title-page (edges strengthened with archival tissue), fine folding engraved double-hemisphere map of the world, and 42 folding maps after Ortelius, Hondius and others, 3 engraved plates of diagrams and tables and 2 folding letterpress tables. Contemporary vellum over paste-board, title in manuscript on the spine (a bit browned, rubbed). Later edition, first published in Venice in 1624. AN ATTRACTIVE COPY with a fine double-hemisphere world map, and a map of America showing California as an island. Originally from Danzig, and a student and later a librarian at Leiden, Cluver travelled throughout Europe and wrote a number of books on ancient geography. Sabin 13805 (first edition).
