Signed on the title page by Dvoretsky and Latvian chess master Milda Lauberte as well as an unidentified third signature. Dvoretsky is one the world's leading chess trainers, having trained such greats as Garry Kasparov and Viswanathan Anand. Lauberte was a Latvian master who placed 3rd and 6th, respectively in two Women's World Championships in 1937 and 1939. Near fine with light wear.

84 pages with 5 plates, diagrams and table. Royal octavo (9 1/4" x 7 1/2") issued in light brown cloth with gilt lettering to spine with black flora design. Edited by Bernhard Kagan.(Bibliotheca Van der Linde-Niemeijeriana:5392) First edition.
The tournament consisted of ten contestants. Efim Bogoljubov scored first a full point ahead of Akiba Rubinstein whom scored 6 points. and Rudolf Spielmann, Carl Ahues and Ernst Grünfeld tied for third each with a score of 5. The other contestants were Edgard Colle (4), Paul Johner, Paul M List and Friedrich Sämisch (3 1/2), and Walther Von Holzhausen (2 1/2). This was Rubinstein's last tournament as a Berliner. He soon took up residence in Antwerp.
Condition: Corners bumped and rubbed, some internal notations, spine heal rubbed through else a very good copy issued without jacket. .

On occasion of the 60th birthday of Bernhard Kagan, the "Freie Schachvereinigung Berlin" arranged a small tournament with 10 participants. The field was noticeably strengthened by the participation of Efim Bogoljubov, who had returned to Germany after a two years stay in Russia, and also Rudolf Spielmann. The favorite Bogoljubov won in the end, despite a bad start with a loss to Ernst Gruenfeld in round 2. Spielmann disappointed a little. The tournament was sponsored by Viktor Tietz. (Bibliotheca van der Linde-Niemeijeriana: 5394) First edition.The chess club in Hannover, Germany celebrated its fifty year anniversary by organizing a small, international chess master tournament in 1926. Eight players were invited to participate, including two very strong masters: Aron Nimzowitsch from Denmark, and Akiba Rubinstein from Poland. They met with six German chess masters that included Jacques Mieses, Friedrich Sämisch, Oscar Antze, Hans Duhm, Hermann Von Gottschall, and Walther Von Holzhausen. Games were played from August 9th to the 18th. Nimzowitsch won with a near perfect score of 6½ of 7, edging out Rubinstein by half a point. The prizes were awarded to the players at the Hotel Luisenhof. One page type written letter Quarto (10 1/4" x 8") on Alain C White's Chess Problem Letter Head as Curator to Gilbert Dobbs signed at the bottom.In the letter Hume is inquiring to a problems which he enclosed (not included) on whether it had been previous published and questioning the solution.George Hume was a British composer and one of the main actors of the "Good Companion" Chess Club. He collected two-movers and used this collection to detect anticipations. He participated to the edition of many books of the White Christmas Series such as Changing Fashions, Valves and Bi-Valves, Flights of Fancy in the Chess World and The Good Companion Two-Mover published in 1922.Gilbert S Dobbs (1867-1941) was an American problemist who specialized in two-movers.
