Robert Creeley (1926 - 2005), one of America's leading poets was a a friend and contemporary of Kerouac, Ginsberg, and Jackson Pollock. 'The Island' (Creeley's only novel) is based on his experiences on Majorca in 1953. It's an impressionistic autobiography, a fractured account of his difficult marriage and the social scene on Majorca.
