Hardcover, bound in later (19th century?) half calf and marbled boards with gilt decorated and titled spine strip (Isocratis / Orationes); [40], 509, [41] p.; 8. A student of the sophists, Isocratis was also part of the circle of Socrates, according to Platone. This volume includes six of the known sixty speeches attributed to him. In excellent antiquarian condition with prior owner signature front paste-down, handsome (16th century?) writing on bottom edge. NOT EX-LIBRARY.
