London: Tiranti, 1953. Reprint Edition . Hardcover. Good+/No Jacket. Unusually paginated item, but feel sure text complete. Brief text followed by many illustrations and fotos. All gutters sound, binding good. Boards have some shaping to text, wear, spine sunned. Significant foxing to endsheets, fore-edge and to a lesser extent within the text proper. There is some very light pencil underline. Book has been stored (since we acquired it) and will be shipped in acid-free sleeve. Weirdly, another title Michael Spens, "Jellicoe At Shute" arrived today and will be listed shortly, separately. PLEASE NOTE- This is apparently an octavo reprint of a larger earlier edition. *We feel that books offered for internet sale should be described thoroughly and accurately. Description:
1997 large format hardcover as pictured. This is a beautifully done reissue of the 1925 Shepherd and Jellicoe classic survey of Italian Renaissance gardens. This edition reproduces the text and plates of the original folio though in a slightly smaller format. Includes many architectural renderings and b&w photographs. Binding is firm. Black cloth boards with gilt stamping show minimal shelf wear. Lower front corner has a subtle bend. Head and tail bands. Upper edge of text block is mottled. Text itself appears clean and unmarked. Dust jacket is faded over spine with a small tear and remains of a price sticker at rear. Price reflects condition. Your purchase helps support our small village library. s
