Boston: Houghton Mifflin Company, 1958. First Edition. Hardcover. Just about Fine in a close to Fine dustwrapper with mild sunning to the spine. First Printing, a Review Copy with the review slip laid in. INSCRIBED "For Lee & J/with my love" and SIGNED in March 1958 by the poet on the half-title page. Also included are two playbills, including one for the premiere performance on 11 December 1958, starring Pat Hingle, Christopher Plummer, and Raymond Massey. All in a protective cloth clamshell box with a gilt-lettered morocco label on the backstrip. Winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama as well as a Tony Award.

Archibald MacLeish was not only a well-known poet but also served as Librarian of Congress, appointed by Franklin Roosevelt, a position he used to reorganize and promote the institution. In addition to winning three Pulitzer Prizes, MacLeish was commissioned by the NEW YORK TIMES to write a poem to celebrate the Apollo 11 moon landing, which he entitled "Voyage to the Moon" and which appeared on the front page of the 21 July 1969 edition of the paper.
