About This Item
Dublin, Ireland: William Curry, Jun. and Company, 1843. Hardcover. Good. 8vo 8" - 9" tall. Browne, Hablot K. The fuller title is from a two-volume work, "Our Mess." and by Harry Lorrequer, Charles Lever's true name. A perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete and sturdy, with forward cock to spine, bumping to spine head and foot, rubbing of the gilt lettering to spine but still distinct, blind-stamped illustrations to front and rear panels. Rough-cut page edges make this a particularly attractive copy. Before he was "Phiz," Hablot K. Browne was a prominent illustrator, and here he has provided 27 plates including a particularly fine black-and-white portrait of the offer at frontis, tissue-protected. All plates collated and present, one being severely toned, but the rest are clear and sharp. Moderate toning to endpapers, but a clean text-block. The author's dedication to The Right Honourable Lord Eliot is included. Frontis matter + 6-306 pp. + publisher's advertisements.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. Additional postage may be required for oversize or especially heavy volumes, and for sets.
