Japan National Tourist Organization.. No date. Circa 1950s.. Vintage color poster, 39 1/4 x 24 1/2 inches. Paper loss and tears in the upper right corner have been backed with Japanese paper(the paper loss is mostly to the margin, just touching the image area in one point; three 7 to 8 inch long tears to upper section of poster and some additional short edge tears now repaired with Japanese paper and not very noticeable, pinhole in each corner, faint toning to lower edge; good, bright condition. The exquisite Nihonga painting "Jo no Mai" (Noh Dance Prelude, 1936) by Japanese artist Uemura Shoen appears on this travel poster by the Japan National Tourist Organization (the image also appeared on a poster published by Japan Airlines). This is a particularly rich printing of this exquisite image of a Japanese woman in traditional dress against a soft yellow background. "To 717-20749 Mitsumura" printed at lower left corner, "Printed in Japan 601-E" at lower right corner. Artist signature and chop in lower right image. .
