Front cover shows sledging down a hill, with dog, squirrel and tortoise looking on. Stiff card covers. Cartoon-strip-style pages with colour illustrations. Small splits to top and tail of spine. Bumping and wear along cover edges; some scuffing to cover. Inscriptions in ink and ink stamps to inside front cover, with partial old price label. Some browning to outer page edges. Contents are still generally very good - illustrations are nice and bright.

Spine is split nearly all the way down rear side, with splitting and chipping; a little loss. Cover corners are bent. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Rusting from staples to front endpaper. Grubby margin marks and foxing. A reading copy.
