Presentation Copy SIGNED by the Author, dated "21 Nov. 1929." 8vo, blue cloth with decorated labels of Civil War soldiers, [377] pages. Rare Presentation Copy by the prominent early 20th century poet, Stephen Vincent Benét (1898-1943), of his most famous book-length poem about the Civil War. Benét won the Pulitzer Prize for this memorable poem (1928) named after the song about the great Martyr for Emancipation, John Brown. Decorated colorful endpapers. Binding tired, corners slightly bumped, lower cap abraded. Labels browned.
