About This Item
General John Burgoyne (1722–1792) was a British army officer, playwright and politician, best known for his turning-point role in the American Revolutionary War. He advanced from Canada with the plan to split away New England but the British Army did not come to his aid. He fought two small battles at Saratoga but was surrounded by American forces and surrendered.
This is Burgoyne's biography, written by the British military historian Major-General James Lunt (1917-2001). It was published in 1976 and this is a first printing of the first edition. It does not appear to have been read and, aside from a little wear to the dust jacket (unclipped), it is in pristine condition.
