Legislative record of the New York Assembly in the period of the construction of the Erie Canal and the state's official outlawing of slavery. Covers the period the Legislature met, from January 4 to April 14, 1820, during the third year of DeWitt Clinton's governorship.
At the time, New York's politicians were split in two camps: the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans. In addition, the Democratic-Republican Party was split into two factions: the Clintonians and the Bucktails (supported Martin Van Buren and the Tammany Hall machine).
Defective, lacks preliminaries, title page; begins with p5. Final leaves of Index lacking (includes up to p xvi).
Folio volume, 5 - 1024 pp, Index. Boards lacking, spine perished. As is.
