About This Item

London: Printed for Henry Lintot and John Osborn, 1746. Hardcover. Very good. Folio. Extracted from third edition of Churchill's Voyages, VI, pp. 187-255. The full page engraved plate of the Draught of the Harbour of Praya (Cape Verde) is present. Bound to style with leather spine, marbled paper boards, leather lettering label, gilt.


Light aging and some foxing on a couple of pages, else a near fine copy.


The author was commander of a ship trading for ivory, gold and slaves. There are descriptions of the stowing of slaves, winds and sea conditions, as well as small pox infecting the ship.
