London: W.H. Allen, 1887. First edition. Two volumes. Sir Richard Temple had a distinguished career over more than thirty years in India rising to become Governor of Bombay. These volumes include his diaries of trips to Kashmir and Sikkim. A photographic portrait and specimen of the handwriting of Sir Salar Jung, 5 color plates, 8 folding maps or sketches (4 colored), 5 black-and-white plates. Covers show wear on corners and spine ends and few minor stains, including a small splash of blue paint, and one folding plate detached but laid in; still good to very good in original cloth.
