Lincoln & London: University of Nebraska Press. Fine/Very Good Dust Jacket. 1987. Sixth Printing, 2000. Large Hard Cover. 0803228759 544 pages, with index and source notes. A Fine hardcover volume in dark blue cloth, bright, solid and entirely clean. The VG+ Dust jacket has a couple small tears at top edge and minor wear at extremities, (and is now protected by a mylar wrapper). Volume 3 of the THE JOURNALS OF THE LEWIS & CLARK EXPEDITION, August 25, 1804 - April 6, 1805, which covers the expedition's route from the Vermillion River in present South Dakota to Fort Mandan in present North Dakota, and their Winter encampment there. It describes encounters with Native Peoples, and includes considerable ethnographic material on these tribes. Some miscellaneous documents, containing information gathered during the first year of the expedition, originally published separately, are here brought together in proper chronological sequence, with a large section (over 570 pages) entitled Fort Mandan Miscellany found at rear of this edition.
