Jeremiah Curtin (1835-1906) Linguist, folklorist, ethnographer, writer. Smithsonian Institution Bureau of Ethnology. Curtin made this journey in the year 1900 between the 19 July and 15th September, his object to visit the birthplace of the original Mongol race. Siberia, Lake Baikal, Olkhon, the Buriats, their customs, shamans, rites, myths, folk tales. He died shortly after finishing the manuscript, and this book was published posthumously.
