Harcourt, Brace & Company, Inc., 1944 Book. Very Good. Hardcover. Signed by Author(s). 1st Edition. Signed by both authors on the title page. No jacket other than remnants of the flap that have been pasted to the ffep. There is also a rusty paperclip scar affecting 4 pages (2 front and back) more or less. Slipped inside the book is "A souvenir of the Meeting of The Civil War Round Table of New York November 1, 1953" and a personal letter handwritten and signed by Meserve, dated 1953. The souvenir includes 4 "contact prints (of Mr./Mrs. Lincoln) from the original glass negatives by Mathew B. Brady in the Meserve Collection" in addition to a photo of Meserve with his signature beneath. Other than moderate foxing on the covers of the souvenir, it is in VG condition and all 5 prints are in FINE condition. The book is tight and straight w/rubbing at spine ends and very light rubbing at corners.
