Nice: Izdanie Literaturnogo Fonda Narodnoi Monarkhii, 1962. Octavo (22.5 × 15.5 cm). Original decorative wrappers; 100 pp. Three photographs. Very good. According to Andrei Savine, a scarce monarchist propaganda book, issued with the goal of distribution in the Soviet Union among farmers and workers (two related publications by Pototskii were entitled "To the Russian worker" and "To the Russian woman.") Pototskii was the pseudonym of Nikolai G. Shapovalenko (1893-1976), a writer and activist who lived in Nice and was instrumental in the emigre monarchist movement. Here he attempts to introduce Soviet youth to the supposed truth about pre-revolutionary Russia, the Tsars and the church and to motivate them toward resistance to the Soviet regime. Savine 00337. KVK, OCLC show six holdings, at Berkeley, the British Library, Holy Trinity, Hoover, Stabi Berlin and UNC Chapel Hill. Scarce in the trade.
