This is the rare first edition first state published by The Reilly & Lee Company, Chicago, U.S.A. in 1922. This edition of Kabumpo in Oz first edition first state has an illustration of Kabumpo the wise elephant to the Half Title Page and has an illustration of the Princess Dorothy on page [299]. The front board has a wonderful colour illustration of the characters from this Wizard of Oz book. The binding is in Good condition being complete but with wear, a small mark to the front board, and fading to the spine. The Wizard of Oz book has 297 numbered pages and the additional illustration of Princess Dorothy after a blank page. The Kabumpo in Oz book has 12 great colour illustrations by John R. Neill and numerous black and white illustrations throughout this wonderful and rare Wizard of Oz book. Condition of the pages is Good with a number of the pages loosely inserted and some of the loose pages are chipped to the edges. This rare Wizard of Oz book does need restoration, but is worth the work!

Near fine. 50 pages. 23.5 x 16 cm. 8 black and white full-page illustrations, decorative page borders. A smoking-themed parody spurred undoubtedly in part by the proliferation of fine press and arts and crafts editions of the Rubaiyat. The editor here concludes the burning need was not more translators, but for more Omars to translate, thus the son of Omar lying undiscovered in the wilds of Borneo sings the praises of tobacco over alcohol. Unobtrusive owner name on cover.
