About This Item
Heinemann, London, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Fair. ÂLetters mingle souls," said John Donne, and no better proof of this statement could be found than this collection cf the letters of Kahlil Gibran, author of ÂThe ProphetÂ, ÂThe Broken Wings and ÂThe Voice of the MasterÂ. The letters in this book cover the years from 1904- to 1930 and are an illuminating self-portrait of the poet during his most productive period. There are letters to his sister Miriana and other members of his family; thoughtful letters to his editor, Ameen Guraieb; and, above all, impassioned letters to May Ziadeh, the Lebanese writer with whom Gibran formed an extraordinary relationship entirely through correspondence. This intimate record of a restless, creative mind has been translated with sensitive perspicacity by Anthony Rizcalla Ferris, who has also written helpful explanatory notes to accompany them. Size: Octavo (standard book size). 94 pages. Rear cover slightly grubby & faint ink marks to front cover. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact. Endpapers browned, text block clean.
