Amsterdam: Uitgeverij Westland, 1943 1943 (printed on title page). VERY GOOD. A clean, unmarked and firmly bound copy. Occasional light foxing to pages, endpapers toned - otherwise internally fine. Hardcover bound with ivory paper covered boards, gray cloth spine. Red titling on spine, red family crest on front cover. Cover is lightly toned and soiled with moderate wear - corners bumped, board showing along bottom edge, and there is a shallow, thin horizontal dent at middle right side of front board. Binding strong, hinges intact; boards and spine straight. With 55 B&W photos, including frontis plate of Kapitein Christiansen with "De Fuhrer" (Hitler) dated July 1932. Christiansen (1879-1972) was a WWI seaplane ace who shot down at least 13 planes. During WWII he commanded the German Wehrmacht in the Netherlands. After the war, Christiansen was convicted of war crimes; he served less than 4 years of a 12 year sentence. An exceedingly uncommon book. 6-1/4 x 9-1/4"; 225 pp. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket. 8vo.
