About This Item

London:: James Nisbet, , 1865.. Reprint.. Hardcover. G-. Soiled early copy. (viii), 255pp, plus a guarded frontis and 3 other plates. Prefaced with an elusive ‘Suggestive’ by Amy Lothrop (Anna Bartlett Warner) concerning the identity of the author(s). Hull stationer’s blind-stamp to front free endpaper. Shallow stain to fore-edge of many pages, and some soiling, though a majority of pages in the middle of the book are clean and not stained. Some gatherings of pages protrude at fore-edge, but are not loose. Rather musty. Small octavo, in contemporary crimson cloth, boards decorated in blind, spine lettered in gilt: soiled and knocked but firm, gilt quite bright. 19thC editions of this title are scarce.

About Chapel Books

I sell books from a large disused Chapel next to the village duck pond, where I have lived about 40 years: just inland from Dunwich and between Southwold and Aldeburgh. I open 7 days a week, 12-5.
