Huntington, WV: Standard Publications, Inc., 1946. Tall 8vo. [12], 406 pp. Photo frontisp., illustrated title, over 100 photos & text illustrations. Embossed & decorated black publisher’s cloth, lettering in green & silver on front cover & spine, colour-tinted illustrated endpapers (slight shelfwear, very slight bumping to 1 corner), still a VG bright copy. First edition of this excellent work on selecting hunting rifles, by one of the most renowned American big game hunters of the 20th Century. Including sections on hunting scopes, rifles for dangerous game, brush and timber rifles, stalking rifles, adjusting and selecting the correct scabbard while hunting on horse back, detailing hunting scenarios and the correct rifles and caliber. Keith (1899-1984), an Idaho rancher, was a noted advocate of big bore calibers, and helped develop the .357 magnum, .41 magnum, and .44 magnum pistol cartridges.
