Prague: Šolc a Šimáček, 1926. Quartos (29 × 20 cm). Original printed wrappers with decorative header; 142, [2] pp. (approximately 16 pp. per issue). The first issue lightly worn and with vertical crease; else very good or better. A complete run of an early Czech cinematography trade journal, aimed at cinematographers and industry insiders, those involved in making and improving cinematic technology in the early days of the medium. New film cameras, lenses and projecting devices as well as film stock, and improvements in film light sensitivity are the topics of the articles written by engineers, scientists, and inventors. The dominant contributor, and one of the editors, was Karel Smrž (1897-1953), an instructor at DAMU and a noted Czech film critic and historian who wrote several works popularizing the medium. The articles are illustrated with graphs, diagrams, and photographs of the devices under discussion. Advertisements for new film projectors, and companies offering technical expertise are also featured. The journal provides a glimpse into the technological developments in Czech and European film industry of the 1920s. Not in KVK or OCLC.
