London: Harper and Brothers, 1940 Hard Cover. Stated First Edition. 10 1/2 x 9 1/4. A beautiful children's book chronicling the life of the King and Queen Kingfisher and the valley in which they live. Translated by Lily Duplaix. The l ast line reads: "And the water flowed and sang". Illustrated board cover has wear to corners and edges, a dent in the middle of the spine but is very bright and clean. There is a crease to the back to p corner. Endpapers are beautiful illustrations of a pair of kingfishers gliding over pond and meadow. Very clean - no former owner's name. Text is in very good cond. Overall cond: good.. F.
