Kiroku (Record): Complete collection of the first 40 issues, all signed, plus numerous signed Kiroku-related extras

Tokyo: Akio Nagasawa, 2008–19. First printing. A superb collection of Moriyama’s magazine Kiroku (Record), up to 2019, consisting of the following items, all in mint condition (save for the occasional slightest signs of shelfwear):

Issues 1–5: the 2008 reprint of the all-but-unobtainable first five issues, with five facsimile issues in grey card folder, and signed insert;

Issues 6–40; each issue roughly 8.5 x 11 inches, ranging from 48 to 192 pages, and signed by Moriyama;

Record Extra Issue No. 1, Daido Moriyama’s Snap and Hajime Sawatari’s Tao, bound dos-a-dos, signed by both (2007); (200) pp., 9 x 11.75 inches;

Record: Movie in London, DVD with 46-minute documentary shot during Moriyama’s visit to London for his exhibition at the Tate Modern with William Klein, and 15-minute bonus section, Making of Record, with insert signed by Moriyama (2013);

In 1972–73, at the age of 34 and emerging from his involvement with Provoke, Daido Moriyama published five issues of a personal photography magazine, Kiroku (Record). (Published in editions of 300 copies, the original issues are now very scarce and ferociously expensive.)

Thirty-four years later, in 2006, he revived the magazine, with Akio Nagasawa on board as publisher, and issues appearing two or three times a year. Every new issue is an event, and Moriyama shows no sign of slowing down; the latest issue (as of this writing), number 52, came out in September 2022. The issues in the new series are published in editions of 1000, and the earliest of those have begun to go out of print. (Most of the extras included with this collection are likewise no longer available from the publishers.)
