No date. Ca. 1600.. Single woodcut (approximately 5 x 3 inches), hand colored, bordered by text, on single sheet 8 1/2 x 14 inches, text on verso, archivally matted to 19 1/2 x 13 1/2 inches. A few faint spots, overall very good condition. Beautifully designed and executed wood cut of a plant, showing fruit, leaves, roots. Coloring appears to be early hand color, simple and carefully done. Verso of page 370 from an unidentified old German language (fraktur) herbal, possibly Mattioli’s "Kreuterbuch ...." (Jacob Fischer, Frankfurt am Main, 1611) a German version of his "Pedacii Dioscoridis de materia medica libri sex" first published in Venice 1558. .
