George Routledge and Sons, Limited, 1947. Hardcover. Good. 1947. Seventh Edition. 622 pages. No dust jacket. Green cloth with gilt titles to spine. Various poets, edited by Read. Previous owner's faint stamp to front pastedown. Pages are slightly tanned but text remains clear. Text block edges slightly tanned. Boards have slightly bumped corners and appear a little mottled. Rear board has a strip of mild sunning. Spine is slightly sunned, but gilt remains bright. Spine ends a little crushed. One loose thread end from binding.

George Routledge & Sons Ltd., 1944. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1944. Fifth Edition. 622 pages. No dust jacket. Navy cloth with gilt lettering to spine. Pages are lightly tanned with mild foxing to endpapers and text block edges. Pencil inscription to front free endpaper, with a few small nicks and rub marks along text block edge. Minor dog-eared corners. Mild cracking to gutters with exposed netting. Binding remains firm. Occasional thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have moderate shelf-wear with mild bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Heavy tanning to spine, with visible crushing to spine ends. Book has a pronounced forward lean. Liquid drops and bubbling to front and rear boards.

The recipient, Stephen Samuel Wise (March 17, 1874 – April 19, 1949) was an early 20th-century American Reform rabbi and Zionist leader in the Progressive Era.
