Cover and typography design were prepared by Russian constructivist artist Varvara Stepanova (1894-1958). She was long-time partner of Alexander Rodchenko.She designed posters, books, magazines, and clothes. In 1919-1920 she was assistant director of the art and literature section of IZO Narkompros (The Department of Fine Arts of the People's Commissariat for Education). Stepanova also led the textile department in VKhUTAMS (Higher State Artistic and Technical Workshops).
Issues from 1929 contains Stepanova's monogram "SV" on the front cover.
