First edition. 258 pp + 1 pp. A love story set during the War of the Spanish Succession, when the armies of Louis XIV and the Austrian Emperor were contending for the possession of the Italian provinces. The story was previously published as a serial in the "Dublin Weekly Nation". Spots of foxing on edges, prelims and occasional spot in text. Dark brown paper boards with gilt lettering on spine. Overall condition VG.
